Empowering and Celebrating Black Beauty and Women

For over a decade, My Black is Beautiful (MBIB) has been committed to inspiring, empowering and celebrating Black women. Created by a group of visionary women and inspired by black excellence, MBIB has empowered three million women to celebrate our beauty inside and out. MBIB continues our legacy of providing us a unique space for creativity, inspiration, growth and conversation. P&G’s commitment to impact and celebrate the lives of African American women through the MBIB platform is more than just a hashtag. It’s a way of life.

At this year’s Essence Festival, MBIB will expand beyond the beauty narrative and introduce #BlackGirlsDo – a movement that highlights unexpected, multifaceted attributes that make black women the proud, strong individuals we are today.

Black Girls Do is an expression of us as women and our narratives, from our shared roles in society, to the unique and beautiful ways in which we impact culture. MBIB will also continue the celebration by treating attendees to hair styling, skin consultations, photo opportunities, MBIB swag, product giveaways and more.

Highlights from this year’s MBIB experience include:

Two hosted ESSENCE® Beauty and Style Expo moments, with conversations surrounding self-care, black hair and skincare regimens. Through these moments, we will celebrate the expressive versatility of Black beauty & culture with the help of our partner brands: Pantene Gold Series, Head & Shoulders, and Olay.

“Black women are magical. With all we have done and continue to do for our community, we are excited to be a part of a celebration that highlights the many facets of African American women.” said Verna Coleman-Hagler, Brand Manager of My Black Is Beautiful. “During this year’s Essence Festival, My Black is Beautiful tributes Black Girl Magic with the Black Girls Do initiative which celebrates the boundless beauty and strength among black women through empowering conversations, beauty tutorials, product giveaways and more!”
